You’re planning for your next personal branding photoshoot and you’re wondering — what props can I bring that will help me feel less awkward and also showcase my unique brand and business?!

This post is a starting point to help you consider which props might be useful to showcase your unique brand — but just know this is a starting point! We can always add or subtract from the list based on your preferences.

P.S. Tune into this podcast episode to learn more about how to plan a brand photoshoot that feels like YOU (so you love the photos!)

Your favorite go-to drink

I love incorporating my clients favorite drinks — whether it’s coffee, tea, a green juice, matcha, wine or anything else! The more personalized it is to you, the more on brand it will feel.

Your cell phone

The reality is, nowadays, a lot of us do at least *some* work from our phones. While it might not be the center of your brand, it’s helpful to get it in some photos to convey the “working” shots that don’t include your laptop. I also like using it as a prop (I.E. sitting next to your laptop or near you in the photo) to feel more realistic. So unless you have a brand that encourages people to be completely detached form their devices, I always encourage clients to add it into their session.

Your laptop/ipad

This is where the real work happens! If you have a laptop, be sure to bring it along. Or if you have a desktop in your own private workspace, we can include it in the session.

Your fave snacks/foods

Whether you love mac and cheese, popcorn, acai bowls, or anything in-between — consider bringing it along for your session! Your clients and future customers want to know the YOU behind your brand, and these can be easy accessories to add into the photos to help your personality shine through.

Books/Magazines/Planners & Printed Items

These are great props to include on a desk or in a living room to help the space feel more personalized to you. It’s also fun to capture you in your element & writing in a notebook/planner or flipping through a magazine for inspiration.

If you have physical items that you use with your clients (like workbooks or sheets) — let’s showcase them! I always suggest elevating the look for the photos — so for example, if you have a workbook or worksheets that you use — print out a nice, styled cover page of what the item is, and staple/bind it to a bunch of blank pieces of paper. This way the front/top of the printout looks styled and on-brand. Or if you have digital parts to your brand (I.E. a branded online group program) — print out something with the logo on it so we can visually represent the online parts of your brand!

Sunglasses/hats/purses/backpacks/hobby items

These are great and can add more personality to your session. Don’t feel the need to go overboard and bring all of your backpacks/purses, etc… but bringing along one of each can help the lifestyle photos look more realistic.
