Rebranding (or branding yourself for the first time) can feel completely overwhelming.

What do I focus on first?
Should I hire a copywriter or buy a website template?
How much is this going to cost—and will it be worth it?

I get it. I’ve been there myself. And after helping hundreds of women business owners refine and elevate their brands, I can confidently say that most people make the rebranding process way harder than it needs to be.

Today, I’m breaking down the 5 most important things you need to focus on—so you can streamline your branding (or rebranding) process and finally feel clear and confident in your business.

What Most Business Owners Get Wrong About Branding

Most people approach branding backward.

They start with:
📌 The visual side of branding—choosing colors, fonts, and Instagram templates.
📌 Building a website—before they even know what they want their messaging to be.
📌 Trying to “look” the part—without clearly defining what their brand actually stands for.

And here’s what happens next…

👉 They launch their new website or Instagram aesthetic.
👉 It looks beautiful.
👉 But after a few months, they realize…

They don’t actually know how to talk about their brand in a compelling way.
They’re still struggling to stand out online.
They’re not attracting the right clients (or enough clients at all).

The problem? They skipped the foundation—the deep brand strategy work that actually makes a brand powerful and profitable.

That’s why I want to help you do things differently.

The 5 Most Important Steps in Your Branding or Rebranding Process

If I were rebranding my business today, here’s exactly what I would focus on first (before touching anything visual).

1. Create Messaging That’s Clear, Compelling, and Makes You Stand Out

If you don’t know how to clearly communicate what you do and why you’re different, it doesn’t matter how pretty your website looks—people won’t be compelled to take action.

Your messaging should:
✔️ Speak directly to your dream clients’ biggest desires and challenges.
✔️ Clearly explain what you do and why you’re different from others in your industry.
✔️ Be consistent across your website, Instagram, and any platform where you show up.

Most people skip this step. Instead, they pour their time into Canva templates, website layouts, or even hiring a designer before they know what their brand is actually saying.

✨ Action Step: Before doing anything else, get clear on your brand messaging. If you need guidance, listen to Episode 150 & 152 of the podcast where I dive deep into creating messaging that attracts and converts.

2. Build a Cohesive Brand (Beyond Just the Visuals)

Once your messaging is clear, then you can focus on creating a visually cohesive brand.

Cohesion doesn’t just mean your Instagram matches your website—it means:
✔️ Your words and visuals align so your audience gets the same experience everywhere.
✔️ Your brand feels instantly recognizable across all platforms.
✔️ You’re saying the same core things over and over (which makes your brand memorable).

Too many business owners think they need to create different messaging for each platform—but the strongest brands repeat themselves consistently. That’s how people start associating you with something specific.

✨ Action Step: Make sure your messaging, website copy, Instagram bio, and content all reflect the same clear, compelling message about what you do and who you help.

3. Choose a Marketing Strategy That Aligns With Your Goals (and Is Actually Sustainable)

When I was rebranding in 2021, I tried to be everywhere at once.

🚨 Weekly podcast episodes
🚨 Daily Instagram posts
🚨 Blogging every podcast episode
🚨 Pinning 5x a day on Pinterest

I had entire days dedicated to content creation, and in theory, it made sense. But in reality?

I got burnt out fast.

What I learned: Just because you can fit something into your schedule doesn’t mean you should.

Your marketing strategy should:
✔️ Support your business growth goals.
✔️ Be sustainable long-term (not just for a few months).
✔️ Prioritize quality over quantity—focusing on what actually drives sales.

✨ Action Step: Choose 1-2 core platforms where you’ll consistently show up. Focus on strategies that directly lead to bookings (not just visibility for the sake of visibility).

4. Optimize Your Offer Funnel So Clients Have a Clear Path to Work With You

Another mistake I see?

Creating offers without thinking about how they flow together.

Your offer funnel should:
✔️ Have logical next steps for clients at different stages.
✔️ Make it easy for people to continue working with you.
✔️ Be designed so that one offer naturally leads into the next.

For example, I once launched a $27/month membership that took $5,000 to set up—and I had no mid-tier or (even a sustainable) high-ticket offer to lead people into after that. Yiiiiiikes 👀. Lesson learned. It’s so easy to get caught up in the hype of how successful a business offer or strategy will be —even if it’s not currently a good fit for where you are in business. This meant I was putting all my effort into a low-ticket offer with no way to scale.

I see this all the time with business owners who:
🚩 Focus on selling one low-cost offer without a clear upsell path.
🚩 Have huge price jumps between offers with no middle ground.
🚩 Create offers without thinking about how they build on each other.

✨ Action Step: Look at your offer funnel. Does it make sense? Are there natural next steps for clients? Are you putting most of your energy into selling an offer that won’t generate the revenue you need?

5. Create an Irresistible Client Experience (So Clients Keep Coming Back & Referring You)

Your brand isn’t just about getting new clients—it’s about creating an experience that makes people want to work with you again (or refer you to others).

Ask yourself:
✔️ Is my onboarding process smooth and professional?
✔️ Do I have automations that make client management easier?
✔️ Am I creating an experience that makes clients excited to work with me again?

✨ Action Step: Look at your client experience. Where can you streamline things? Are there automations you can put in place? If handling inquiries and bookings feels overwhelming, consider using a CRM to simplify your process.

Final Thoughts: Rebrand the Right Way (Without the Overwhelm)

If you’re branding (or rebranding), here’s your exact game plan:

✔️ Get your messaging clear first.
✔️ Build a cohesive brand that aligns with your message.
✔️ Choose a marketing strategy that’s realistic and sustainable.
✔️ Optimize your offer funnel so clients naturally move through it.
✔️ Create an unforgettable client experience.
